Alberta (Douglas) Allen was born on April 16, 1936, in Lexington, KY, to John Douglas, Sr. and Augustine (Grissom) Douglas, both of whom preceded her in death. In 1960, she was baptized as one of Jehovah's Witnesses.

She retired from the VA in Lexington after many years of service. She had many memorable, varied, and unique experiences while accompanying her late husband, Courtney Allen, in his entertainment business. A marvelous cook and hostess, she loved entertaining family and friends. Her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren were an amazing source of pride and joy. She was always fashionable and exuded elegance. She will be remembered for her wonderful smile, her sense of humor, and her warm and caring spirit.

Alberta is survived by her children: Senora (Bruce) Johnson, Lexington, KY, Sarita (Stephen) Orange, Durham, NC, Eric Higgins, Lexington, KY, Leon (Lorene) Higgins, Jr., Lexington, KY; eight grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; her sister Georgia (John) Collins, Columbus, OH ; her brother John (Mary) Douglas, Jr., Lexington, KY; former spouse Leon Higgins, Sr., Lexington KY, and a host of relatives and friends.

She will be greatly missed and because of the hope we have of the resurrection, we look forward to seeing her again. John 5:28,29.
