Anita May Garland Mynear, 95, a beacon of love and faith, passed away on February 8, 2025, in her hometown of Lexington, Kentucky. Born on March 12, 1929, Anita's warmth illuminated the lives of all who knew her, leaving a legacy of kindness that endures beyond her years.
Anita served countless children as a lunch lady with the Fayette County Board of Education, a role she performed with care and dedication until retirement. She found spiritual nourishment and fellowship as a devoted member of Embrace United Methodist Church.
Left to cherish Anita's memory are her beloved daughters, Teresa Mynear Hardy (Steve) and Joan Lawson, who she raised with unwavering love. Her spirit will forever be reflected in the lives of her adored grandchildren, Jason Maples, Laura Hardy Puckett (Matt), and Christy Burgess (Randall); and her cherished great-grandchildren, Shelby Hughes, Dalton Puckett, Ryleigh Bates, and Phoenix Burgess. Her numerous nieces and nephews also bear the mark of her gentle teachings and generous heart. She was preceded in death by her parents, Robert and Ruby Dykes Garland; beloved husband, Earl Leslie Mynear; daughter, Janice Kay House; her unborn child; and brothers and sisters, Bobby Garland, Benny Garland, Bessie Garland Rainey, David Garland, and Richard Garland.
Anita's life was a testament to her loving, faith-filled, and kind nature. May her memory continue to be a guiding light for all who had the privilege to know her. A funeral service for Anita will be held on Thursday, February 13, 2025, 12:00 PM, at Kerr Brothers Funeral Home, 463 East Main Street, Lexington, Kentucky, 40507, with Brother Dale Adams officiating. Interment will follow at Evergreen Memory Gardens in Bourbon County, Kentucky. Pallbearers will be Steve Hardy, Jason Maples, Matt Pucket, Dalton Puckett, Randall Burgess, Christy Burgess, Laura Puckett, and Shelby Hughes; honorary pallbearers are the Staff at Sayer Christian Village Healthcare in Lexington, Kentucky. Visitation will be held at the funeral home, prior to the service from 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM. Kerr Brothers Funeral Home is honored to be in care of arrangements for Anita May Garland Mynear.
