IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Bertha
Berry
October 2, 1937 – February 4, 2025
Bertha Estell Berry, 87, was called home to her eternal rest on 4th day of February, 2025. She was born on October 2, 1937 in Talladega, Alabama; she was the eldest of four siblings. Bertha was the daughter of the late Henrietta Jackson and the late Mack Kerry Estell. She was preceded in death by her brother, Ernest Estell and her daughter, Cheri Berry Morton.
Bertha and her mother moved to Lexington, Kentucky where she met her former husband, the late Gordon Berry. Their union produced three beautiful children, Ricky, Cheri and Keith Berry.
Bertha confessed her love for Christ Jesus as her Lord and Savior at an early age. She then united with the Antioch Baptist Church and served for many year as an usher. At a later time in her life, Bertha became a member of the Consolidated Baptist Church in Lexington, Kentucky where she used her culinary skills to help in the kitchen. "No one could cook like Bertha." She brought her deep southern cooking style to Lexington and "boy," it was really "good." Bertha loved to dress for church and listen to the Word of God. Many church members often complimented her sharp style of dressing but, if you ask Bertha, she would say, "I didn't dress to impress "man." I dress for the "Lord."
She leaves to cherish her memory: her two sons, Ricky (Anna) and Keith Berry; nine grandchildren: eighteen great grandchildren, one sister Donnetta (Michael) Moore, one brother, Leonard Estell, her niece, Karen (David) Reevers, nephew, Lemar (Jean) Thomas; two surviving uncles, John Jackson and Pastor Howard Jackson of Birmingham, Alabama; formerr in-laws, Ron, James, Michael (Regina) Berry of Lexington, Kentucky and Tayna & Gabe Berry Bunton of Jeffersonville, Indiana and a host of relatives and friends.
