Obituary

.

Bobby Clay Wilkerson was born June 2nd, 1957, in Lexington, KY to the union of the late Raymond & Bertie (Sleet) Wilkerson. He was called home on November 29, 2024, at the age of 67. In his youth (Little Georgetown) he began his spiritual walk with Jehovah God. He went on to graduate from Lafayette High School and built a life grounded in faith, family, and service. He was the devoted husband of 41 years to Jamye (Maxberry) Wilkerson, a loving father to Jandyce Wilkerson of Pittsburgh, PA, and Janel (James) Clements of Louisville, KY. His greatest joy came from being a doting grandfather to Jadyn Perkins, JamesBraxton Perkins, and Jolea Clements. Bobby enjoyed his work at The J. Peterman Co. alongside his loving wife for approximately 20 years. He also dedicated nights and weekends to Bryan Liquor and Limehouse Liquor, working closely with his dear friend and father-in-law, James Maxberry. His career included over two decades at Taper Roller Bearing before his well-earned retirement. After retiring, Bobby continued to serve his community as an election officer and a crossing guard at William Wells Brown Elementary School. An unwavering sports fan, Bobby's loyalty lay with Louisville teams, though on occasion he graciously donned Kentucky blue for the sake of his wife, Jamye, a true-blue fan. His artistic and musical talents were highlighted in his love of playing the piano, sketching, and singing on Sunday mornings while preparing breakfast for his family. Some of his hobbies included traveling, attending classic car shows, and special island trips with his circle of close friends. He more than crossed off his bucket list with activities such as zip lining, jet skiing, ATVing, bike riding, white water rafting and more. He loved supporting his children, grandchildren, nieces, and nephews at their sporting events and creating fond memories during his annual June celebration of life at his backyard urban oasis. Bobby was preceded in death by brothers Bruce Wilkerson and Terry Wayne Sleet. He leaves behind a lasting legacy through his siblings: Mike (Delores) Sleet, Wanda Ighodaro, Vickie (Kenneth) Dudley, Billie Sleet, Lois Wilkerson, Sheila Wilkerson, Robin Wilkerson, Iona Wilkerson-Fields, Nyetta Silverburg, Sharon Burton, Arnetta Schooler, Billy Ray Edmonds, Karen Conners and a host of nieces and nephews. By many, he was affectionately referred to as "Uncle Bobby." His legacy of kindness, devotion, and joy will live on in the hearts of all who knew him. Acknowledgments Special thanks to his niece Stephanie Riley, great nephew Shane Riley and friends; Paul Gardner, Teresa Pettus, Sha' Robinson for their care and dedication.
