Candace Elizabeth Marks 86, widow of Samuel D. Marks, Sr. went to eternal rest on Friday, December 11, 2020. A native of Jackson, KY, she was the daughter of late Charles and Beatrice Spicer. She was the third child out of twelve children born to that union.

Candace married the love of her life on January 20, 1955 and they were blessed with three beautiful children. Candace was a quiet soul but through her actions she taught her children the importance of God and instilled a hard work ethic in her children. She was very proud of each of them and loved them and her grandchildren dearly.

Candace was a member of 7th Street Christian Church where she was faithful to the Usher Board for many years.

Candace spent her years working at a local restaurant and a factory but her most valued job was at the home of Dr. Woodford Van Meer. Dr. Van Meter and his wife welcomed her and Depriest into their family and he considered her to be a special lady.

In addition to her parents and husband, Candace was preceded in death by her son, Samuel D. Marks, Jr., four brothers, four sisters, her granddaughter, LaVonne C. Rogers and her son in law, Elder Mark Rogers, Jr whom she loved as if he were her own.

Candace leaves to cherish her memory her loving daughters, Goldie B. Rogers and Regina G. Marks; grandchildren, Tara Gentry (Eric), Rico Marks (Melissa) and Terence Marks; a host of great-grandchildren and great-great grandchildren; sisters, Shirley Howard, Maudie Higgins (Herman), Bonnie Jones (Douglas) and Patricia Cote (Ken); special niece, Penny Hooper; special family, Dr. Woodford Van Meter and family and host of nieces and nephews, extended family and friends.
