Obituary

Claire Diane Sears, 85, Lexington, widow of Samuel Paul Sears, died Tuesday, September 8, 2026, at Lexington Premier Nursing and Rehab.


She was the daughter of the late Custer Dyer Williams and Magnolia Jones. She was a graduate of Lafayette High School, a member of Embrace Church formally Epworth United Methodist Church, and attended Porter Memorial Baptist Church.


Diane loved her family. Everyone called her “Granny.” She had child-like wonder and was always asking questions. She had a heart so big and was the sweetest person in the world. She formerly lived at Ashland Terrace and considered all of them her sisters.


Survivors include a daughter, Mary Anne Hasaballa; a son, James Edwin (Melinda) Sears; seven grandchildren, Christapher Bishop, Angie (Brad) King, Brandon Bishop, Chrisdeburg Holman, Roni Miller, Jerod Sears (Emily Madden), and Brittany (Ryan) Morris; and eight great grandchildren, Johnathan, Jennifer, Caitlynn, Charlotte, Bryson, Charlie, Summer, and Raylan.


Proceeded in death by her daughters, Elizabeth Jean Millwood, and Joyce Fackson; and her grandson, Joshua Millwood.


Funeral services will be 12:00 PM, Thursday, September 10th, 2026, at Kerr Brothers Funeral Home, 463 East Main Street, Lexington, Kentucky, officiated by Greg Ison. Burial will be in Evergreen Memory Gardens in Bourbon County, Kentucky. Visitation will be from 10:00 AM until the time of the service Thursday. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions are suggested to Ashland Terrace, 475 South Ashland Avenue, Lexington, Kentucky, 40502.
