Eleanor Mae Banta Dale, widow of Billy Gene Dale, age 90, departed this life on Sunday, August 23, 2026, at Centerpoint Health – Winchester. Eleanor was born in Bourbon County on August 1, 1936, the daughter of the late Ray and Beatrice Wagoner Banta, a high school graduate, retired from Hansley Mills, having worked as a seamstress, had cleaned houses for others, and had been a member of Herrington Methodist Church for 90 years. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by a son, Gary Dale; a sister, Judy Martin; two brothers, Jimmy Banta and Billy Banta.
Survivors include her daughter, Kay (Jim) Fryman; grandchildren, Marlena Crawford, Megan (Jordan) Foley, David (Melissa) Dale, and Chris Dale. Also surviving are two great grandchildren, Hadleigh Grace Foley, Andie Clay Foley; a daughter-in-law, Kathy Dale; brother-in-law, Doug Martin; sister-in-law, Lucy Banta; special friend, Meg Buckley; as well as several nieces and nephews.
The funeral service for Eleanor Mae Banta Dale will be at 1:00 p.m. on Monday, August 31, 2026, at Hinton-Turner Funeral Home with Rev. April Jolly officiating. Interment will be in Evergreen Memory Gardens with casket bearers being Charlie DeAtley, Andy Crawford, Mark Risinger, Brian Scott, and Bentley Scott. Honorary bearers are Jim Fryman, Doug Martin, Wayne Wagoner, Jarvis Wagoner, Tim Jolly, and Frank Waltz. Visitation will begin at 11:00 a.m. until time for the service.
