Mrs. Ella Lee Byrd, 90 passed away Saturday, August 24, 2024 at the Homestead Post Acute Nursing Home after a lengthy illness. She confessed a hope in Christ and united with the Imani Baptist Church, Lexington, Ky under the leadership of Pastor Willis Polk I. she was born on September 9, 1933 to the late Curtis and Hattie Simpson, she was preceded in death by a twin sister Paralee Roberts; five brothers George, Richard, James (Presley) Wilson; Lawrence and William Simpson. She is survived by her husband of 50 years Robert C. Byrd. She was a devoted mother, grandmother, great- grandmother and great-great-grandmother. She leaves to cherish her memory six children: David Covington (Cheryl) Wendell Simpson (Bernice) Gwendolyn Mitchell (Jesse), Kenneth Hughes (Tresha), Regina Hughes, and Marakeia Arthur Campbell (Tonya); twenty two grandchildren, 44 great-grand children, ten great great-grand children and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
