IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Esther Ruth
(Scott) Linville
June 1, 1928 – May 29, 2024
Esther Ruth Scott Linville, affectionately known as Ruth to her friends and family, passed away peacefully on May 29, 2024, at the age of 95 in Paris, Kentucky. Born on June 1, 1928, in Ruddles Mills, Kentucky, Ruth was a beacon of light and love to all who knew her. Her spirit, wisdom, and faith-filled life touched the hearts of many throughout her years.
Ruth's journey began as the cherished daughter of the late Lewis Scott, Sr. and Dorothy Lawson Scott. Her life was a testament to her enduring love and dedication to her family, which expanded to include her beloved husband, Herman J. Linville, who preceded her in death. She was a devoted mother to her three children, Dennis Hinkle, Kristie Jefferson, and Mark (Cindy) Linville and a loving grandmother to her five grandchildren, Damon Lee Hinkle, Shane (Heather) Hinkle, Amanda (Tyler) Vance, Tyler (Whitley Bailey) Harrod, and Haley (C.J.) Walters, and a doting great-grandmother to Carter, Emerie, Tyler Rae, Fenix, and Ayla Harrod.
Ruth was a central figure in her family, and her legacy will be carried on by her daughter-in-law, Cynthia Hash Hinkle, and her cherished great-grandchildren. She also held a special place in her heart for her caring nieces, Jennifer Maybrier and Graycyn Wagner, who served as her caregivers in her later years. Ruth was the sibling of Charles, Lewis, Jr., and Marion Scott, as well as Juanita McFarland, Jane Kitchen, and Phyllis Rankin, all of whom predeceased her, along with her son Dennis Hinkle and grandson Eric Linville.
Professionally, Ruth's work ethic was unparalleled. She retired from V.R. Wesson and was a former employee of Hansley Mills in Paris, Kentucky. Her dedication to her work was matched only by her commitment to her faith and community. Ruth was a lifetime member of the Central Baptist Church in Paris, where her melodious voice graced the choir and her presence was a source of strength and inspiration to her fellow congregants.
Ruth's interests were a reflection of her appreciation for the simple, beautiful things in life. She had a passion for flowers and gardening, finding joy in the vibrant colors and intricate designs of nature. Her love for birds was evident in the care she took in creating a welcoming environment for them around her home. Ruth was also an avid reader, with a hunger for knowledge and stories that was insatiable.
Those who knew Ruth would describe her as spirited and wise. Her faith-filled life was a guiding force, and she shared her spirit and wisdom generously with all who crossed her path. Ruth's influence and teachings will live on through the generations she has shaped with her love and guidance.
As we bid farewell to Esther Ruth Scott Linville, we celebrate a life well-lived, full of love, laughter, and the wisdom she imparted. She will be deeply missed by her family, friends, and all those fortunate enough to have known her. Ruth's memory will forever be cherished as a blessing in the hearts of those she leaves behind.
Ruth's life will be honored in a service that reflects the faith she so cherished, surrounded by her family and friends, as they gather to share memories and say their goodbyes. Her final resting place will be amongst the rolling hills of Kentucky, where she will be laid to rest beside her husband, Herman, enveloped in the peace she so richly deserves.
As the sun sets on Ruth's earthly journey, we are reminded of the brightness she brought to our lives, the lessons she taught us, and the unwavering love she shared. May her soul rest in eternal peace, and may her spirit continue to guide us from above.
