Obituary

Gertrude Eversole Hurst, 86, widow of William Hurst, Sr., passed away on Wednesday, January 24, 2024, in Somerset, Kentucky, at the home of her son, Bill Hurst Jr. She was born on July 28, 1937, in Garrard County, Kentucky, one of twelve children born to the late Joseph Eversole and the late Sally Powell Eversole.

She is survived by her children, a daughter, Angela Dean (Lionel) Gonzalez, and two sons, Bill Hurst Jr., and Billy Joe (Amy) Hurst; siblings, Bonnie Van Winkle, Kay (Mickey) Damrell, Dorothy Eversole, Walker (Carol) Eversole, and Robert Eversole; nine grandchildren Meagan Elam, Alyssa (Donnie) Shipley, Lauren Isham, William (Crystal) Hurst III, Christopher (Emily) Hurst, Taylor (Natasha) Hurst, Tiffany (Willie) Howard, Sasha Gonzalez, and Dessi (Tim) Taulbee, and 15 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by a son, Michael Hurst, and several siblings.

Funeral services will be held at 12:00 PM, Tuesday, January 30, 2024, at Betts & West Funeral Home with Walker Eversole officiating. A burial will follow in Evergreen Memory Gardens in Paris, Kentucky, where she will be placed beside her husband, William. Bearers will be Bill Hurst, Jr., Tim Taulbee, Taylor Hurst, Sasha Gonzalez, William Hurst III, and Jonathan Elam. Visitation will be from 4:00 PM- 8:00 PM, Monday, January 29, 2024, at the funeral home. Betts & West Funeral Home is honored to serve Gertrude and the Hurst family in their time of need.
