Obituary

Jack L. Williams, age 87, of Lexington, Kentucky, passed away on June 6, 2026. He was born on January 12, 1939, in Battle Creek, Michigan, and lived a life marked by service, devotion, and quiet accomplishment.

Jack was the son of the late Arthur and Floy Williams. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Betty Jean Williams, whose memory remained close to his heart throughout his life as well as six other siblings, Arthur Court, Mary Kuehl, Kenneth Court, Arlene 'Babe' Court, Dorothy Jahnz, and Patricia Court. Jack is survived by one sister, Shirley Spohr.

He is survived by his children, Nora (Patrick) Stone and James Smyth. Jack is also survived by his grandchildren, Nina (Brian) Vail and Sean (Stacey) Wallace; his great-grandchildren, Zackery (Ashley) Newman, Madison (Caleb) Hatton, Allie Wallace, Keeley Vail, and Kinsley Vail; and his great-great-grandchildren, Lena and Jesse Newman. Jack took great happiness in watching his family grow across the generations.

Jack served honorably in the United States Air Force as an aircraft mechanic from 1960 until 1968, a period of service that reflected his commitment to duty and country. He carried the discipline and integrity of his military years throughout his life. Following his service, he retired from Standard Products in Lexington following many years of dedicated work. He was also a life member of the local VFW Post, where he maintained a connection with fellow veterans and the values they shared.

In his spare time, Jack enjoyed working with his hands. He built numerous scale barn replicas and other farm buildings with patience and skill, and he especially enjoyed rebuilding a full-sized, running vintage John Deere tractor. These hobbies reflected his mechanical knowledge, craftsmanship, and appreciation for detail that made each project meaningful. He approached his interests with care and pride, and the results of his work stood as a testament to his talent, patience and perseverance.

Jack will be remembered as a kind, quiet and caring man whose life was defined by service to his country, loyalty to his family, and a steady, humble spirit. He touched the lives of those around him with his gentle nature and thoughtful presence.

Visitation for Jack will be on Friday, June 12th from 11:00 am until 12:00 pm at Milward – Southland located at 391 Southland Drive in Lexington. Service will begin at 12:00 pm with private interment to follow in Evergreen Memory Garden in Bourbon County.
