Obituary

Johnnie Murphy Smith Robinson, 91, departed this life and went home to be the Lord on April 23, 2024. Born on January 31, 1933, in Augusta, GA, she was the second of three daughters of the late Rev. John Paul and Lillie Williams Murphy. At the age of 8, she gave her life to the Lord Jesus Christ and was baptized by her father at Liberty Baptist Church, Augusta, Georgia. She was active in her home church playing for the Sunday School and church choirs until she graduated High School. From there Mrs. Robinson attended Spelman College in Atlanta, GA, and Benedict College in Columbia, South Carolina where she met and married the late Reverend Raymond H. Smith Sr., a pastor and student at J. J. Starks School of Theology. God gave them 35 wonderful years together before he proceeded her in death, on December 12, 1988. Special to this union five children were born: Angela (Jeffrey Sr.) Smith H. Beatty, Raymond H. (Freddia) Smith Jr., Reginald L. (Alison) Smith Sr., Eric M. Smith, and Francine (Anthony Sr.) Smith B. Hardin.

In December 2006 God blessed her to marry Elder Alonza J. Robinson who was a loving, faithful, and dedicated husband to Johnnie. He was the loving father of five children: Laverne Blythe, Ronza (Kevin), Robinson Frye, Lisa (Lesley) Robinson Moore, Edyth (Jeffrey) Robinson Dabney, and Marcus (Shamyra) Robinson. Together they created a beautiful, blended family. Their's were two hearts and minds that loved both God and music. They were blessed with six wonderful years of marriage until death parted them.

In addition to her children, she leaves to cherish her memory and carry on her legacy, 25 grandchildren: Anthony Hardin Jr., Angela Harris, Tiffany Harris, Jeffrey Beatty Jr., Justin Beatty, Erika Smith, Rania Smith, Reginald Smith Jr., Elijah Smith Sr., Micahia Wright, Daniel Smith, Faith (Damien) Smith Campbell, Tesia (Quentin) Smith Carter, Jalon Smith, W. Stewart Beatty III, Tayler Beatty, Aneya (Maurice Sr.) Hardin Carter, Aleisa Hardin, Dominique Blythe, Sam Blythe, Joseph Frye, Daniel Moore, Steven Moore, Joshua Taylor, Matthew Moore, and Kaeden Robinson.

15 Great Grandchildren: Jadon, Malia, Elijah Jr., Imari, Mikaya, Layla, Tayen, Lyric, Maddison, Maleek, Duke, Maurice Jr., Ezekiel, Joshua II, and Luna! A precious sister Wendolyn Murphy Harding, a dear sister-in-law Edith Jane Robinson, and a host of treasured nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews, cousins, friends, special children she called her own, and a kind and loving church family.

Visitation is from 11:00 AM - 1:00 PM and the Home Going Service is at 1:00 PM, Friday, May 17, 2024, at the Consolidated Baptist Church, 1625 Russell Cave Road, LEX, KY. 40505.
