June 13, 1935 – January 31, 2025
Launices J. Chestnut, daughter of the late Sylvester and Dollie Mae Jones, widower of Wilbert Lee Chestnut, Sr., at age 89, was called home to Glory in Cynthiana, Kentucky, on Friday, January 31, 2025. She was preceded in death by four children, Judy Salyers, Mary Jane Chestnut, Tommy Chestnut, and Gregory L. Chestnut; a sister, Vancy Mae Jones; and five brothers, James, Alvester, John, Willie, and Arecannon Jones. She leaves behind: five children, Wilbert Lee Chestnut, Jr., Victoria Chestnut, Aretha Chestnut, Anthony (Lori) Chestnut, and Shelliss Chestnut; one hundred and twenty plus grandchildren, great- grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren combined; one sister, Clottiella Jones Doty; three brothers, Homer (Ella) Jones, Bennie Jones, and Graham Jones; and a host of other family and friends. She was born June 13, 1935, in Manchester, Kentucky. She was a loving daughter, sister, mother, grandmother, and friend to many. She worked at University of Kentucky in the cafeteria, where she fed the UK football team and retired in 1992. She was a Huge UK football fan and was named by the UK players, Momma Lee. Launices was loving to all who came in contact with her and never met a stranger. Her love for God, her children, grandchildren, other family, and friends were undeniably great. Jesus said to her, "I am the resurrection and the life. Whoever believes in me, though he die, yet shall he live and everyone who lives and believes in me shall never die." John 11:25-26.
