Obituary

Lottie Elizabeth Stevenson 92 peacefully entered her eternal rest on Wednesday, December 4, 2024. She was born to the union of her parents Samuel Lee and Rosa Arnette Stevenson on September 5. 1932. She grew up in Lexington, Kentucky in the Fayette County Public School Systems, being a graduate of the old Paul Laurence Dunbar High School Class of 1950. After leaving High School Lottie had a strong work ethic and quickly went to work and raised her family. She worked for several years at Lerner's Department Store in downtown Lexington, Hart's Drug Store and retiring from the University of Kentucky in the printing Department.

At a young age she bowed to Christ Jesus as her Savior and was baptized into the membership of the Greater Liberty Baptist Church under the services of the former Pastor, Rev. Dr. A. B. Lee Sr. At Greater Liberty she was a dedicated Sunday School Teacher for over 50 years and was a member of the Golden Age group. In 2023 Pastor Marcus Underwood honored her by bestowing her the title of Church mother along with Sister Louise Houston. Lottie was a regular attendee at our weekly Worship Services, Sunday School and Bible Study until failed. When in worship if the spirit hit her, she would stretch out and praise her God. She was one who was faithful unto death.

She was the mother of the Douglas Park Men's Softball Team. Everyone knew her and she knew all their stats and would let them know when they needed to improve their game. She loved people and she was the number one fan of the University of Kentucky Basketball Program. She loved her CATS, and you better not say anything about them. Lottie spoke her mind; she said what she said, and she meant it when she said it. She had many life lessons that she loved to talk about and share with young people.

She was preceded in death by her parents: Samuel and Arnette Stevenson, her daughter Donna P. Green, her brother: James B. Stevenson, three sisters: Laura M. Cater, Caroline Miller, and Elizabeth Stevenson, a special Nephew whom she raised: Minister Ronnie Carter, and a special Cousin who was like her sister: Beulah Turnage.

She is survived by one Daughter Mrs. Cheryl (David) Covington, two Sons: Derek (Marcia) Stevenson Sr. and Kim (Tina) Stevenson. Bonus Children: William Bond, Greg Wright, Steve Chandler and Larry Carter. Grand Children: Cheryl Adams, Manuel Patton, Derek Stevenson Jr., Ryne Covington, Kimalette Jackson, and Lynda Stevenson. Great Grandchildren John, Shaneqa, and Tiani Patton, Kelsey Domsher, Emoni Pankins, Lashawnda Collins, Jaylee Stevenson, Dominique Hardin, Ryniah, Amaya, Kyla, Riya, Zavijah Covington, Brooklyn Jackson, Taylor and Tanner Lewis, and Seven Great Great Grandchildren. Five Sisters: Shirley Lippett-Bolden, Sharon Courtland, Geraldine Stevenson, Deloris (Layoy) Mitchell, Brenda (Claude) Hogans, a special Niece: Tonya Carter, Close Friends: Louise Houston, Barbara Bolton, Claudet Harris, and Gloria Johnson, and a host of generations of Nieces, Nephews, Cousin, and Friends.
