Mary Ann Williams, beloved mother, grandmother, and friend, was born on September 20, 1947, to the late John Lewis and Lucille Vinegar Williams. She peacefully departed this life on April 12, 2026, at the age of 78, following a brief illness.
Mary Ann confessed a hope in Christ at an early age and became a faithful member of Historic Pleasant Green Missionary Baptist Church, where she remained until her passing. Her love for the Lord was evident in her life, especially through her passion for singing, which began in the children’s choir and continued through her years in the senior choir.
A proud graduate of Old Dunbar High School, Class of 1965, Mary Ann carried the values of perseverance, faith, and community throughout her life. She furthered her education before beginning a long and dedicated career at UK Hospital, where she faithfully served for 35 years.During her time there, she worked in several departments, most notably caring for babies and children, a reflection of her nurturing and compassionate spirit.
Mary Ann lived a life defined by love, strength, and devotion to her family. She was known for her warm heart, gentle spirit, and the steady care she extended to everyone around her. Her presence brought comfort, guidance, and quiet strength to those who knew her.
She was preceded in death by her parents and her two brothers, James D. Williams Sr. and RoyT. Williams Sr.She leaves to cherish her loving memory her children, Mark A. (Deidra) Williams and Angela Cotton; her grandchildren, Lil Mark, Marianne, Shakia, Kiante, and Daneal; her great-grandchildren, Desean, Julian, Dasani, Kyan, Kross, Mercer, Melani, Trenton, Tristian along with nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. She was a devoted mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother who found her greatest joy in her family.
Time spent with her loved ones meant everything to her, and her love will continue to live on through them. Affectionately known as “NaNa” by all who knew and loved her, Mary Ann will be remembered for her kindness, wisdom, and the genuine love she shared so freely. Her smile, gentle spirit, and unwavering kindness will be deeply missed, but her legacy will live on in the hearts of all who were blessed to know her.
