Obituary

Melissa Washington Clay, 102, widow of George Clay, died Monday May 27, 2019 at the Bourbon Community Hospital, Paris, KY.

A native of Paris, KY, she was the daughter of the late Levi and Victor White Washington. She was a retired domestic worker, homemaker and was a member of the Zion Baptist Church, Paris, KY.

Survivors include a host of nieces, nephews and cousins, including two special nephews, George (Essie) Washington, Jr. and Charles (Delaney) Cooper. In addition to her husband and parents, she was also preceded in death by three sisters, Easter Jones, Maggie Leer and Rebecca Lindsey; five brothers, Henry, George, Levi, Charlie and Albert Washington and one stepson, George Clay, Jr.

Funeral services will be conducted at 12:00 PM Monday June 3, 2019 at the Lusk-McFarland Funeral Home, 1120 Main St., Paris, KY by Rev. Aaron Crumbie and Rev. Dr. Morgan Gilkey.

Burial will be in the Evergreen Memory Gardens, Paris, KY. Visitation will be from 10:00 AM Monday June 3, 2019 until the hour of service at the funeral home.
