IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Melissa Louise
Nolan
November 13, 1982 – May 12, 2025
Melissa L. Nolan, beloved by her husband Patrick Watson and her greyhound Rayo, passed away suddenly on May 12, 2025. Melissa cared deeply for her family and friends, generously sharing the love in her heart with all she knew. Her empathy drove her to provide a little joy and levity to whoever she was around, relying on her intelligence and quick wit to aid in your comfort even if it came at the expense of her own. She truly appreciated the beauty that constantly surrounds all of us, and freely expressed her love for what made her happy in the hope you felt it too. Melissa was also a lover of animals, adopting several retired racing greyhounds. Her inspiration for greyhound care came from her deep respect for the majesty of horses and passion for the sport of kings. Never one to shy from insisting on the best, the Kentucky Derby was one of her most important events every year because it reflected perfectly the brilliance and ceremony of racing. Her lifelong study of equines gave her an intangible edge when handicapping the races, one of her favorite hobbies, and she and Patrick loved attending the races year-round with their friends Mike and Doug. Melissa was also a budding gardener, delighted this Spring when the tulip bulbs she planted for the first time last fall appeared right on schedule. She also drew inspiration from her Saturday morning trips to the Bluegrass Farmers Market. Everyone who loves Melissa now has the opportunity to shine brighter and collectively contribute the light she provided to us all.
In addition to Patrick and Rayo, Melissa is survived by her mother Mary Concilio (Ron Hayes), her brother Steven Nolan (Sarah), her nephew Kieran and niece Cora, stepmother Betty Gaudet Nolan, stepmother Stacy Richey Nolan, as well as extended relatives. She is predeceased by her father Brian J. Nolan, who she missed tremendously after his passing in 2019.
