Obituary

Norman Gene Morgan, a cherished family man, respected foreman, and proud veteran, passed away peacefully on July 9, 2024, in Cynthiana, KY, at the age of 88. Born on May 26, 1936, in Zoe, KY, Norman's life was a testament to the values of hard work, dedication, and the importance of family. Norman's journey began as the son of Fred Herbert Morgan and Polly Jane McQuinn Morgan. His early years in Zoe were filled with the love and camaraderie of his siblings. Though he was preceded in death by his parents and five of his siblings, Arthur Curtis Morgan, David Donald Morgan, Rodney Morgan, Marie Horne, and Carolyn Sue Morgan, his life was enriched by the presence of his three sisters, Gloria Dean Richards, Diane Lynn O'Donnell, and Kim Anne Morgan.

After bravely serving his country in the Korean War, Norman returned home and began a long and distinguished career as a Foreman at CSX Railroad. His work ethic and leadership were an inspiration to many.

Norman was a longtime member of Calvary Christian Church, where he found great solace and fellowship. Norman's heart found its truest joy in his family life. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Jo Malinda "Linda" McDannold Morgan, and his daughter, Tammy Lynn Morgan Ketchersid. He was a loving father to his children, Norman Eugene (Tammy) Morgan, Bryan Stacey (Judy) Morgan, Dawn Alisa (Stuart) Fowler, Darryl (Dara Jo) Morgan, and Mike Aldridge.

His legacy continued to flourish through his ten grandchildren, Dustin (Carly) Morgan, Aeriel (Randy) Thorpe, Dakota (Savanna) Morgan, Stacey Morgan, Jennifer Morgan, Christopher Morgan, Morgan Ketchersid, Madison Ketchersid, Robert (Taylor) Fowler, and Kristin (Justin) Pickett, as well as several great-grandchildren who brought him immeasurable happiness. Norman's kind and selfless nature was evident to all who knew him. His sense of humor was a beacon of light, bringing laughter and joy to every gathering.

An avid University of Kentucky basketball and football fan, Norman rarely missed a game and relished the camaraderie and excitement of cheering on his favorite teams. His love for old westerns, particularly "Gunsmoke," was well-known, and he could often be found enjoying these classic tales of the Wild West. Norman's impact on the world was profound, and his absence will be deeply felt by his nieces, nephews, cousins, friends, and all who had the pleasure of knowing him. He was a man who lived his life with honor, integrity, and a profound sense of duty to his loved ones and his country. As we bid farewell to Norman Gene Morgan, we celebrate a life well-lived, a legacy of love, and the countless memories he leaves behind. His spirit will continue to guide and inspire those who were fortunate enough to have been touched by his kindness and warmth. Norman's life will be honored in a ceremony, where his family and friends will gather to share stories, laughter, and tears, remembering a man who was truly one of a kind.

Norman's journey on this earth has ended, but his story will live on in the hearts of those he loved. Rest in peace, Norman, and thank you for the indelible mark you've left on this world.
