Paul Douglas Woods, Sr., age 65, of Paris, Kentucky, passed away on May 23, 2026. He was born on November 26, 1960, in Paris, Kentucky, and lived a life marked by hard work, devotion to family, and a warm spirit that touched many along the way.
He was a Christian man whose faith helped guide him throughout his life. Paul was known by those who loved him as generous, friendly, and spirited. He carried himself with a kind heart and a strong presence, and he made lasting impressions on family, friends, coworkers, and all who had the pleasure of knowing him.
Paul retired from Toyota Motor Manufacturing Kentucky in Georgetown, Kentucky, after years of dedicated service. He also shared his love of sports and mentorship as a former boys assistant basketball coach at Maysville St. Patrick and a former girls assistant coach at Frankfort High School. In addition to his work in coaching and manufacturing, he was an entrepreneur who owned Big Daddy's and Paul Woods Painting. He took pride in his work and in the many roles he fulfilled throughout his life.
Paul had a deep love for sports and competition. He was an avid Philadelphia Eagles football fan and enjoyed playing poker. He also boxed in his younger years and was a good basketball player. One of his proudest athletic memories was being part of a winning Dirt Bowl team. His competitive spirit and love for the game were matched by the encouragement he gave to others.
He leaves to cherish his memory his son, Paul D. Woods, Jr.; his sister, Michelle Woods; and his brothers, Michael Woods, Terry Woods, and Robert "RuRu" Woods. He also leaves behind special friends, Maurice Garrard, Corey Dumphord, Wayne Davis, and Lewis Richardson, along with a host of nieces, nephews, and cousins who will forever hold him close in their hearts.
Paul was preceded in death by his parents, Mattie Frances Woods and John Holman; his brothers, Steven Woods and Tommy "Money" Woods; his aunts, Anna Holman, Mary Brooks, and Ruby McKee; and his grandparents, Thomas and Mary Buckner and William and Ethel Young. Though his passing leaves a deep void, his memory will continue to live on through the love he shared and the lives he touched.
Paul Douglas Woods, Sr. will be remembered with love, respect, and gratitude for the many ways he blessed those around him. His legacy of family devotion, friendship, hard work, and spirited living will remain a source of comfort and pride to all who knew him.
