IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Richard L.
Franklin
September 17, 1965 – December 1, 2023
Richard Lane Franklin, 58, passed away peacefully on December 1, 2023. Richard and his twin brother, Robert Howard, were born on September 17, 1965, in Cynthiana, Kentucky to John Robert Franklin and the late Stella Louise (Cookie) Franklin. A few years later, the family was blessed with their third son, Curtis Wayne. Richard was a 1985 graduate of Bryan Station High School. Upon graduation, he continued his education by participating in a vocational training program in Automotive Repairs. Richard was employed for more than a decade at the Lexington Clinic. He later accepted a job at the Fayette County Public Schools for over 21 years where he formed many lasting friendships among the students and faculty. In 1986, Richard met his future wife and the Love of his Life, Lanora Jennings. They wed in 1988 and to this union was born a daughter, Genice Amanda. Through Genice, Richard and Lanora gained a son-in-love, Jobias Jones. Genice and Jobias blessed Richard and Lanora with two grandsons, Jaxsen Lane and Jaylen Ray. Richard adored his grandsons, who were his pride and joy. He made every attempt to attend every school, sporting and church event that they participated in. Richard never met a stranger. He is remembered as loving, kind-hearted and hospitable. He deeply cherished his time with family and friends, whether it was conversing with them individually, at a family gathering or while watching his favorite team, the Pittsburgh Steelers, play. Richard accepted and professed his faith in Jesus Christ and was baptized by Bishop Thomas C. Wallace at New Birth Church of Christ where he remained a faithful member. He was predeceased by his mother, Stella Louise (Cookie) Franklin, Geneva Jenning (mother-in-law), Brenda Franklin (sister-in-law), Amanda and Ben Wilson (maternal grandparents), Sylvia Griffith and John T. Franklin (paternal grandparents), Ebony Franklin (niece), Jailee Worley and Jaron Worley (great niece and nephew) and a special uncle, Joseph (PJ) Thompson. Left to cherish his memory is his loving wife of over 35 years, Lanora, father, John Robert, daughter, Genice (Jobias), his brothers, Robert and Curtis, grandsons, Jaxsen and Jaylen, special nieces, Ronisha and Jazamin as well as a very large extended family and numerous friends. We are grateful to God for the opportunity to have shared in Richard's earthly life. We are looking forward to reuniting with him around the Heavenly Realm.
