In the afternoon of Monday, February 26th, God, in His infinite wisdom and with tender mercy allowed our loved one to exchange time gently and peacefully for eternity, releasing him from all earthly cares and struggles.  Robert Dewayne Jones (64), affectionately known as "Waynie" to many, was born on December 1, 1959, to the late Robert and Marva Collins Jones in Hazard, KY.

He was a graduate of Tates Creek High School and attended the University of Kentucky.  He worked for several years in the manufacturing industry with his father and several years in the medical field with his mother before moving on to work in a variety of fields. His last employment was in the parking system of the University of Kentucky.  Regardless of where he worked, he met no strangers.

At an early age, Robert professed a hope in Christ and joined Greater Liberty Baptist Church along with his mother, under the pastorate of Rev. A.B. Lee who baptized mother and son on the very same Resurrection Sunday they joined. He later united with the Trinity Baptist Church in Lexington, then finally united with the Pilgrim Baptist Church in Lexington, KY where he enjoyed volunteering with the Lexington Rescue Mission and nurturing plants around the church.  He had a passion for music of all genres and took pleasure engaging in music trivia with unsuspecting family and friends.

Family was of tremendous importance to Robert. His desire was to do everything in his power to keep this family together. His prayer was that everyone might come to know Christ so we can all meet again in Heaven.

In addition to his parents, he was proceeded in death by many aunts and uncles along with several cousins of his generation. Left to treasure his memory and embrace his legacy of Family, is his wife of 31 years Julia Ann, brother William T. Jones, three generations of nieces and nephews (Lexington, KY) as well as multiple generations of cousins, friends, and neighbors.
