IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Rosa Mae
Dray
March 20, 1954 – October 23, 2024
Rosa Mae Dray, a beacon of love and nurturing, passed away peacefully on October 23, 2024, at her home in Carlisle, KY. Born on March 20, 1954, in Irvine, KY, Rosa's life was a testament to the power of family, love, and simple joys.
Rosa was the heart of her family, a devoted housewife who found her greatest fulfillment in the care and happiness of her loved ones. She was a cherished presence in the lives of her two daughters, Brenda (Eric) Miller and Penny (Timmy) Faircloth. Her love and legacy continue to shine through her grandchildren, Courtney and Lindsey Miller, who will forever remember their grandmother's warmth and kindness.
Rosa was a sister to seven siblings, and she is lovingly remembered by Mary Frances Turpin, Emma Ballard, Linda Evans, Lewis Ballard, Melvin Ballard, T.J. Ballard, and Travis Ballard. Her life was a series of woven relationships, and she leaves behind a tapestry of memories for her nieces, nephews, and cousins, who found in her a second mother and a steadfast friend.
Preceding her in death were her beloved parents, Art Ballard and Millie Spicer Ballard; her husband, Roy Lee Dray, with whom she shared a lifetime of love and companionship; her sister, Martha Dray; and her brothers, James, O.J., and Walter Ballard. Each of them held a special place in her heart, and their memories were treasured within her until her last breath.
Rosa's home was her domain, a place filled with the aroma of home-cooked meals and the sound of laughter. She was a pet lover, and her dog Lily was a constant companion, providing joy and comfort throughout her days. Rosa's interests were simple yet profound, rooted in the everyday moments that make life beautiful.
Those who knew Rosa would describe her as loving—a word that encapsulates her essence. Her love was a guiding force, a light that illuminated the lives of those around her. It was a love that was felt in her every action, from the meals she prepared with care to the gentle words of encouragement she offered during times of need.
Rosa's life was not marked by accolades or worldly achievements, but by the immeasurable impact she had on those she touched. Her presence was a gift, and her memory will be cherished by all who had the privilege of knowing her.
As we bid farewell to Rosa Mae Dray, we celebrate a life lived with purpose and grace. Her spirit, characterized by unwavering love and devotion, will continue to inspire and comfort us. Rosa's journey on earth has ended, but her story—etched in the hearts of her family and friends—will never be forgotten.
