Sarah Bennett Marks Stevenson, a loving and thoughtful Christian woman, was born on August 25, 1944, in Paris, Kentucky, and passed away on May 22, 2026, in the same beloved hometown.
She was the cherished wife of Samuel Harris “Tack” Stevenson for 60 wonderful years, and together they built a life marked by devotion, faith, and enduring love. Sarah was a devoted mother to Jon Stevenson, Michelle Scott, and LaDawn Patterson, and she treasured each of her five grandchildren, Jonne’ (Larry) Briscoe, Shiyaan Gilbert, Davia Stevenson, Keyasha Patterson, and Samuel Scott. She was also blessed with one great-grandchild, Omari Calhoun, who brought added joy to her life. Sarah leaves behind a host of nieces, nephews, and cousins who will remember her with deep affection and gratitude for the love she shared so freely.
Sarah was preceded in death by her parents, Benjamin Franklin Marks and Betty Johnson Marks. She was also preceded in death by her three sisters, Anna Rose Moody, Wilma Jean Dottin, and Gail Coraetta Marks, as well as her two nephews, Maurice Marks and David Dottin. Though her family grieves her passing, they take comfort in knowing that she is now at peace in the presence of the Lord and reunited with those who went before her.
Sarah received her education in Paris, Kentucky, and graduated from Paris Western High School in 1963. She carried herself with dignity and grace throughout her life, and those who knew her appreciated her steady spirit and kind heart. Her life reflected the values of hard work, faithfulness, and family devotion that she held dear.
She worked for several years at Hansley Mills and later retired from Kentucky Textiles. Sarah was known as a dependable and hardworking woman who took pride in doing her best in every season of life. Her work ethic and quiet strength were a blessing to all who knew her, and she left a lasting impression on her coworkers and community.
Sarah was a faithful member of Seventh Street Christian Church, where she worshiped as a Christian and found strength in her faith. Her relationship with the Lord guided her steps and shaped the way she loved others. She lived with a spirit of humility and compassion, and her life stood as a testimony to the goodness of God.
In her leisure time, Sarah enjoyed fishing with her husband, shopping, and spending time with her family. She was also an avid University of Kentucky basketball fan, and she followed the Wildcats with great enthusiasm. These simple joys brought her happiness, but her greatest joy came from being surrounded by the people she loved.
Sarah Bennett Marks Stevenson will be remembered as a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, aunt, cousin, and friend. Her life was a blessing, her faith was steadfast, and her memory will remain a comfort to all who knew and loved her. Though she has departed this earthly life, her legacy of love, thoughtfulness, and Christian devotion will continue to live on in the hearts of her family and friends.
Funeral services will be conducted at 12:30 PM Saturday June 6, 2026, at the Seventh St. Christian Church, 122 W. 7th St., Paris, KY by Rev. William Garr. Burial will follow in the Evergreen Memory Gardens, Paris, KY.
