Shavanda M. Allen, 50, passed away Sunday, January 12, 2025 at her home in Louisville. Born in Lexington, KY, she was the daughter of Georgia Russell Allen, Paris, KY and the late James L. Allen. Shavanda loved to cook and even spent time working in restaurants. She loved people and cherished her time with family and friends. In addition to her mother, she is survived by her son, DeAnthony Allen; grandchildren, Marzavier Allen, Mar'Ryan Allen, Kailianna Allen, Zalynn Allen, Graceson Obie-Allen, Nahaliel Allen and A'Havah Allen; aunties, Wanda (Vincent) Taylor, Mary Dale and Mary Jane Beach; great great auntie, Alma Clark; God-mother, Carol Gilkey; as well as numerous nieces, nephew and cousins. In addition to her father, she was preceded in death by her sons, DeMontae McGowan and DeQuantae McGowan-Allen; brother, Lamar Allen; step brother, Jamie Collins. A memorial service will be 1 PM Tuesday, January 27, 2025 at Shorter Chapel AME Church, conducted by Rev. Robert Strode and Rev. Tony Gooch. Burial will be at Evergreen Memory Gardens. Visitation will be 12 PM till service time.
