Sylvia Mae Hafley Shaw, aged 84, passed away peacefully on January 10, 2025, in Paris, Kentucky. Born on March 30, 1940, in Liberty, KY, to the late Earnest Scott Hafley and Edith Mable Southerland Hafley.

Sylvia was the beloved wife of the late Edward Allen Shaw, with whom she shared a life filled with love and dedication to their family. Her enduring spirit is carried on by her two devoted sons, Donald (Lois) Shaw and Ronald (Cookie) Shaw; her cherished grandchildren, Steven (Jamie) Shaw, Andrew (Cassie) Shaw, Sarah McFerron, Billy (Jennifer) Denkins, and Jennifer Jones; and was the proud great-grandmother to Olivia, Eryn, and Trey. Sylvia was a sister to Carl Wayne (Janice) Hafley and is lovingly remembered by her numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.

For many years, Sylvia served as a cook at the Bourbon County High School cafeteria, where her homemade dishes brought comfort and joy to countless students and staff. Alongside her husband, she toiled on their farm, participating in the cultivation and harvest of tobacco. Her home was always open, especially during tobacco season when she would cook for the crew, strengthening the bonds of the community.

She attended the Ruddles Mills Methodist Church, when her health allowed. Sylvia loved the simple joys of life, embracing the outdoors through fishing, camping, and traveling. At home, she could often be found watching her favorite old westerns, with "Gunsmoke" being a particular favorite.

We will remember Sylvia for her vibrant spirit, and her unwavering strength. Her legacy of love and her zest for life will continue to inspire those who knew her. Her family and friends are grateful for her presence in their lives and will deeply miss her guiding light.

Funeral services will be conducted at 1:00 PM Tuesday January 14, 2025, at the Lusk-McFarland Funeral Home Chapel, 1120 Main St., Paris, KY by Bro. John Smith. Burial will follow in the Evergreen Memory Gardens, Paris, KY.

Visitation will be from 11:00 AM Tuesday January 14, 2025, until the hour of service at the funeral home.

Pallbearers will be Steven Shaw, Andrew Shaw, Billy Denkins, Ritchie Burkhart, Brandon Denkins and Chase Edwards. Honorary pallbearers will be Clarence Abney, Frank Burkhart, Sr., Mike Jones and Bubby Kenney.
