IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Thomas Saunders
"Gent" Johnson
June 12, 1964 – March 17, 2024
Thomas (Gent) Johnson,59, the real deal from Centerville, Son of Katie and the late Thomas Johnson Sr., left this world on March 17th, 2024.
He graduated from Bourbon County High school, where he played football and basketball and was preseason all-state in both. He made a living mowing lawns and his loud voice echoed through many neighborhoods. He never met a stranger and would stop in the middle of traffic to blare his horn and yell at someone. He loved embarrassing his kids and grandkids by honking and yelling "daddy loves you" or "g-daddy loves you" while they were either going into school or out on the playground in front of all the students. When the kids got to high school, any student outside was a target as well. He was a sports enthusiast and a dedicated Dallas Cowboys fan. His greatest pride other than his children were his grandchildren, by which he was called "G-Daddy" or "Ju-Daddy". He loved telling stories about his past and growing up in Centerville. But of course, every story had a different funny twist to it. On many summer nights you could find him sitting in his truck in front of the house having karaoke sessions with Billy listening to Charlie Wilson, Elvis, AC/DC, gospel and whatever else they could find to harmonize to. He was definitely one of a kind and will be truly missed by many.
He leaves to cherish his memory, spouse of 42 years, Julie Gorey; mother, Katie Johnson; seven children, Joshua (Lorah) Johnson, Bobby Ray (Tiff) Johnson, Taylor (Savannah) Johnson, Antoine Johnson, Eric (Samaria) Johnson, Caleb (Karley) Johnson and Mary Kate Johnson; 10 grandchildren, Myla Wilson, Maci Johnson, Christina Johnson, Layla Johnson, Isabella Johnson, Tylen Hutsell, Eriyen Johnson, Alaya Johnson, Amarah Dale and Saije Paris; one brother, Robert Cecil Johnson; three sisters, Jackie Combs, Thomasena Micheaux and Michelle Johnson; special friends, Billy Stanfield, Ted Spears, Mal Walton, Robert Raglin, Lester Turner; special cousin, Nicky Wilson and a host of nieces, nephews and cousins.
In addition to his father, he was also preceded in death by one brother, Anthony Wayne Bledsoe and one nephew, Timmy Ray Johnson.
