PLOWMAN Tracy E., 93, husband of the late Anna Plowman, passed away Thursday, May 22, 2025, in Richmond, KY. He was born October 12, 1931, in Irvine, KY to the late Calip and Amy Plowman. Tracy loved trains, horses, bluegrass and country music, and game nights. He played the guitar and steel guitar. He loved to travel. He enjoyed bowling, playing in a league for many years. But above all else, he loved his wife and his family.

Tracy was a dedicated and highly respected farrier who served numerous horse farms with skill and integrity. For over 27 years, he was the paddock blacksmith at Keeneland, where his expertise and professionalism left a lasting impact. In addition to his work in the field, Tracy contributed to the broader equine community as secretary of the Blacksmith Association of Kentucky for several years. Among his many accomplishments, he had the distinct honor of shoeing Seattle Slew during his time as a Kentucky Derby winner—a testament to Tracy's exceptional craftsmanship and reputation in the industry.

He is survived by his daughters, Angela (Bill) Mitchuson, Sharon (Steve) Gilliam, Vickie (Billy) Gayheart, and Julia Plowman; sons, Jimmie (Scarlett) Plowman and Ricky (Cindy) Plowman; twenty-one grandchildren; and a host of great grandchildren and great-great grandchildren. Other than his wife and parents, Tracy is preceded in death by two sons, Tracy Plowman Jr. and Johnny Plowman; and one grandson, Tyler Gilliam.

A 12:00 PM funeral service will take place Wednesday, May 28, 2025, at Kerr Brothers Funeral Home – Main St. Interment will follow at Evergreen Memory Gardens in Bourbon County. Visitation will be from 5:00 – 8:00 PM, Tuesday, at the funeral home.
