Verna Young Freeman, 87, a retired licensed practical nurse, widow of Earl Freeman, died Friday, August 17, 2018 at University of Kentucky Medical Center.

She was born October 1, 1930 in Irvine, daughter of the late Brigham Young and Guessie Barnes Young Chavis. Verna is survived by a daughter, Sheri Freeman, Paris; three grandchildren, Lisa Mae (Joseph) Littrell, Paris, Connie Rose Ritchie, Westwood, Phillip Earl (Heather) Ritchie, Flatwoods; and seven great grandchildren, Brooklynn Littrell, Lilliann Ritchie, Johnathon Ritchie, Ricky Joe Littrell, Maddux Lane Littrell, Braydon Ritchie, and Beckett Ritchie. She was preceded in death by two daughters, Gladys Jean Freeman, Lisa Ann Ritchie; two sisters; and three brothers.

Visitation will be 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. Tuesday, August 21, at Hinton-Turner Funeral Home. Graveside services will be held 11:30 a.m. Wednesday, August 22, at Evergreen Memory Gardens. In lieu of flowers, donations are requested to Bluegrass Hospice Care.
