Vernon Jean Blackburn Coleman was born on April 2, 1946, in Paris, Kentucky. She was the daughter of the late Sally Jo Franks and Alvernon Blackburn. The beloved wife of Myron Coleman, Sr., Jean peacefully departed this earthly life and entered eternal glory with the Lord on Monday, February 26, 2024.

Jean's life was marked by dedication and service. She graduated from Paris Western High School and was a proud member of the last graduating class of 1963. As a homemaker, Jean devoted herself to nurturing her and Myron's blended family of their sons. Later, she joined Dillard's Department Store, where she faithfully served for 29 years until her retirement.

A woman of deep faith, Jean accepted Christ at a young age. Her spiritual journey continued to flourish when she became an active member of The Historic Saint Paul AME Church in Lexington, KY. There, she served as a Trustee, sang joyfully in the choir, was a member of The Ross Greenfield Missionary Society, and ministered through dancing with the Daughters of Miriam Liturgical dance team.

Jean's memory will be cherished by her family, friends, and all who were touched by her kindness, generosity, and unwavering faith. She leaves a legacy of love and service that will continue to inspire those who loved and shared life with her.

She was preceded in death by her bonus son, Myron Coleman, Jr.; two sisters, Elizabeth Wheeler and Aloise Wheeler; one niece, Deborah Wheeler; and a sister-in-law, Arthenia Taylor.

Jean leaves to cherish her memory her devoted husband; Myron, Sr; one son, Timothy Blackburn; one bonus daughter, Rhonda (Eric) Cole; four granddaughters, Kori Porter, Tanisha (Tony) Duerson, Cheyann Jones, and Kennedy Cole; three grandsons, Timothy Blackburn, Tyus Whitaker-Blackburn, and Trey Whitaker-Blackburn; four great-grandchildren, Arias Winfield, Zayden Winfield, Sai'mir Anderson, and Rae'Lynn Rose Blackburn; two bonus great-grandchildren, Tylah Duerson and Terrell Duerson; special great-grandchild, Karon Jackson; two sisters-in-law, Gladys Walker and JoAnn White; two special nephews, George Clark and Cecil Oliver; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other family members, friends, and church family.
