"Bill" Boone
November 19, 1945 – June 2, 2024
William Henry Boone Sr., known to friends and family as Bill, passed away peacefully on June 2, 2024, in Mt. Vernon, Kentucky. Born on November 19, 1945, in London, Kentucky, he lived most of his life in Lexington, Kentucky. Bill brought joy and warmth into the worlds of all who knew him throughout his well-lived 78 years.
A proud patriot, Bill served his country as a member of the United States Army before establishing a lifelong career with Crutcher Floor Service, where he was highly respected and well-regarded by both colleagues and clients. An outdoorsman at heart, Bill found serenity in the simplicity of fishing and hunting. His evenings were frequently spent watching Westerns on TV or playing card games.
Bill's memory will be forever cherished by his loving daughter, Nisa Gayle Woodward (Ed); and son, Jeffery Allen Boone. His spirit will continue to be celebrated by his sister, Teresa McDonald (Johnny); and his adoring grandchildren, Dylan, Ian, Megan, Marissa, Billy, TyAnne, and Ava. His playful legacy will live on through his great-grandchildren, Caroline, Owen, Theo, Benny, Jack, and Jackie.
A beloved uncle, he also leaves behind a host of nieces, and nephews.
Bill was preceded in death by his parents, Thomas Henry Boone and Rhoda Elizabeth Boone; his son, William Henry "Billy" Boone Jr.; daughter, Catherine Louise Boone; sisters, Francis Boone, Mary Lester, Anne Boone; and brothers, Thomas Jacob Boone, and James Cletus Boone.
Funeral services for Bill will be held on Friday, June 7, 2024, at 12:00 PM at Kerr Brothers Funeral Home, 463 East Main Street Lexington, Kentucky, with interment to follow at Evergreen Memory Gardens in Bourbon County. Family and friends will serve as pallbearers. Visitation will be held on Thursday, June 6, 2024, from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM. His memory will be held in the hearts of many and his legacy will continue to inspire. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions in Bill's name are suggested to the VFW, American Legion, or AMVETS.
