Willie Ray Ellington, husband of Betty Hall Ellington, of Harrodsburg, departed this life on Friday, March 17, 2023, at the University of Kentucky Medical Center in Lexington, having attained the age of 87 years. Ray was born in Carlisle, Kentucky on July 25, 1935, the son of the late Edward Hanson Ellington and the late Margaret Lee Burke Combs, attended Nicholas County Schools, was a retired factory maintenance worker, and of the Christian faith. In his spare time you would often find him working on and/or tinkering with old cars, fishing or camping. In addition to his wife Betty, he is survived by two daughters, Rose (Kim) Stiles, Angela (Richard) Compton; three sons, Garnett Ellington (Penny Hunter), Ricky Ellington, and Marvin Derringer. Also surviving are ten grandchildren, eight great grandchildren; a half-brother, Edward Ellington; two half-sisters, Teresa Jackson, and Luann Kelly. The funeral service for Willie Ray Ellington will be at 1:00 p.m. on Wednesday, March 22, 2023, at Hinton-Turner Funeral Home with Celebrant Sharon L. Berry officiating. Interment will follow in Evergreen Memory Gardens. Visitation will be on Tuesday, March 21, 2023, at Hinton-Turner Funeral Home from 5:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m.
