Anna Carol Harris Moore, was born to the late Neal J. Harris and Beulah B. Harris, November 3, 1955, in Paducah, KY. Anna was a graduate of Bryan Station High School, Lexington KY, and continued her education with receiving her BA from Kentucky State University and her MA from Georgetown College. She was a life member of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc., and the Golden Chorale. Anna professed her life to Christ at the Historic Pleasant Green Baptist Church, where she served as a former youth choir director and musician.
On, December 11, 1982, Anna married the man of her dreams and love of her life, Dr. John A. Moore. This marriage of 40 years was blessed with two loving children and one beautiful granddaughter. Anna taught high school and middle school chorus in Lexington for 17 years. Then, she taught music for 17 additional years at Bristow Elementary School before her retirement in 2011. Anna’s love for music was also exemplified at State Street Baptist Church where she served as the former children’s choir director, musician, and a Deaconess. Anna was a vibrant soul who enjoyed working with and for others. Her community involvement included serving as a member of Bowling Green, KY-Omicron Sigma Omega Chapter of Alpha Kappa Alpha; Bowling Green, KY Chapter of the NAACP, Kentucky State University Bowling Green Alumni Chapter; and being named a recipient of the BG Human Rights Commission “Women of Achievement Award”.
On June 20, 2023, Anna was given rest from all her labor as she found rest in her Father’s arms at the age of 67 years, 7 months and 17 days.
Her love, her life, her legacy will always remain dear in the hearts of those she has left behind: her husband, Dr. John A. Moore, Sr.,; children, John A. Moore, Jr., and Angela Camille Moore; granddaughter, L'Wren McDonald Moore; and a host of other relatives and friends.
