Irene (Alexander) Bruce

Irene Alexander Bruce, widow of Robert Burns, and James Bruce, departed this life on Wednesday, March 29, 2023, at Baptist Health Lexington, at the age of 85 years.

Irene was born on July 17, 1937, in Estill County, Kentucky, the daughter of Elwin and Catherine Hall Alexander, and loved spending time outside fishing, camping, as well as attending flea markets. She also enjoyed doing word search puzzles and talking on the phone.

In addition to her parents and husbands, she was preceded in death by two daughters, Geneva Bruce, Ruth Siebenthaler; four sons, Earl Burns, Gene Burns, Danny Burns, and David Lee Burns.

Surviving is a daughter, Reba Whitaker; two sons, Robert Burns, and Billy (Brenda) Burns. Also surviving are four grandchildren; six great grandchildren, and a brother Shirley Warner.

The funeral service for Irene Burns will be at 1:00 p.m. on Monday, April 3, 2023, at Hinton-Turner Funeral Home with Celebrant Sharon L. Berry officiating. Interment will follow in Evergreen Memory Gardens. Visitation will be on Sunday evening at Hinton-Turner Funeral Home from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.
