Jerry Beverage Obituary


Jerry Kenny Beverage, 72, passed away on September 6, 2021, at 4:43 PM at his home in Jacksonville, FL.
He graduated high school in Alderson, West Virginia and attended West Virginia University before enlisting in the United States Army. He spent three years in the Army where his duty stations were Fort Leonard Wood, MO and Heidelberg, Germany.

After the Army, he worked for CSX Railroad for 36 years, 1973 to 2009. During his time at CSX, he was part of the CSX Rally Readers, and he read to 2-4 year olds. Jerry’s hobbies included fishing, camping, traveling, going to casinos and cookouts with family and friends. After retirement, Jerry loved having monthly luncheons with his retired co-workers and watching the University of Kentucky Wildcats!

He is predeceased by his son, Jerry Kenny Beverage II, whom passed away in 2011.

He is survived by his loving wife of 52 years, Betty Lou Beverage (Jacksonville), his mother, Edith Mae Beverage (Rice Lake, WI), his sister, Belinda Mae Beverage (Rice Lake, WI), sister-in-law, Billie Hinton (Kentucky), cousin, Bonnie Proffitt (Kentucky) and special friends, Debbie and Lynn Upchurch (Florida).

The funeral service for Jerry Kenny Beverage will be at 1:00 p.m. on Friday, September 17, 2021, at Hinton-Turner Funeral Home with interment to follow in Evergreen Memory Garden. Visitation will begin at 11:00 a.m. until time for the service.
