John Smits Obituary

John Ottis Smits, born August 22, 1950, died on September 6, 2021 at the age of 71.
He is survived by his wife of 52 years, Beverly Hinkle Smits. John O. was preceded in death by his father, Adrian Smits Sr.; his mother, Barbara May Scott “Bobbie” Yazell; and one brother, Adrian “Dunor” Smits Jr. In addition to his wife, John is survived by three children, Kristine Smits, twin sons, Jonathan Neal Smits, James Travis Smits; daughter-in-law, Heidi Klinefelter Smits; eight grandchildren, Matthew Tipton, Katelynn Smits, Mckenzie Smits, Abbiegayle Smits, Morgan Smits, Lauren Smits, Jonathan Smits, Lacie Smits; and a brother, Anthony E. “Tony” (Mary Beth) Smits.
John was the owner of John O. Smits Rock Hauling which will now be run by his twin sons.
Visitation will be 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. Friday, September 10, at Hinton-Turner Funeral Home. Funeral service will be 11:00 a.m. Saturday, September 11, 2021 at the funeral home with Rev. Rex Graham officiating, interment in Evergreen Memory Gardens. Casket bearers will be Travis Smits, Neal Smits, Chris Smith, Dwayne Rickerson, Charles DeAtley, Adam Beatty, Mike Fuller, and Charles Lukins. Honorary bearers will be Jimmy Mason, Tom Bowles, Hobert “Bud” Clemons, and Kenny Tipton. www.hintonturner.com
