June (Myers) Duncan
October 7, 1931 ~ January 3, 2024 (age 92) 92 Years Old
June Myers Duncan, 92, wife of R.L. Duncan of Lexington, passed away peacefully at her home on January 3rd, 2024. She was born in Nicholas County on October 7, 1931, to the late Guy and Bessie Myers and later was a 1949 graduate of Bourbon County High School. June was a dedicated member of Grace Baptist Church for many years, where she was a devoted Sunday School teacher. June had a generous spirit and contributed to several worthy causes.
In 1959, June, along with her husband R.L., co-founded Duncan Machinery Movers in Lexington, KY. For more than 30 years, they managed and grew their business, contributing to the construction of numerous iconic manufacturing facilities and infrastructure projects across the country. June enjoyed cooking and hosting guests. She was passionate about golfing, Euchre and loved traveling with her husband and family. After retiring, June and R.L. divided their time between their residences in Florida and Lexington. June is survived by R.L. Duncan, her husband of 72 years, as well as her daughter Lee (Roger) Singleton and son Robert (Lisa) Duncan II, granddaughter Adrienne Singleton, grandsons Adam and Alec Singleton and granddaughter Taylor Duncan. She is also survived by sisters Mildred McIntyre, Janice Boyle, Carol Hatton, brother Wayne Myers, and several nieces and nephews. Along with her parents, June was preceded in death by her grandson Robert Lee “Trey” Duncan III, sister Lois Caywood and brother Henry Myers. June cherished her five grandchildren. She was a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and sister. Her wonderful attitude, voice of encouragement and beautiful smile will be missed every day. We would like to extend our heartfelt gratitude to Gloria Calloway, who was June’s compassionate friend and companion for several months.
Funeral services will be held at Kerr Brothers Funeral Home on Harrodsburg Road on Thursday, January 11th, at 2:30 PM, with pastor John Byard officiating. Visitation will be held from 12:30 PM until time of service at the funeral home. Burial will take place at Evergreen Memory Gardens in Bourbon County.
