Martin Barrera

Martin Barrera Martinez, 53, husband of Monica Kvale Barrera, passed away Thursday, March 28, 2024 at the University of Kentucky Medical Center in Lexington.

Born May 22, 1970 in Jalisco, Mexico, he worked for many years as a trainer and groom for Sterling Equestrian and was of the Catholic faith. Martin loved horses, his trucks, spending time outdoors, singing and being with family.

Also surviving are his father, Manuel Barrera Macias; 4 children: Sayra G. Barrera, Alexander Barrera, Carmen Martinez & Martin Martinez; 2 stepchildren, Chase Wayne Hall & Leaonna Jane Hall; his brother, Nibardo Barrera Martinez (Ortencia Lucia Macias-Chavez); 2 sisters, Maria Barrera Martinez (Isidro Bautista Moreno) & Carmen Barrera Martinez; and 7 grandchildren: Yarely J. & Pedro J. Lemuz Barrera, Alexander, Benjamin & Reese Barrera, Tyler W. Crook and William T. Reddel, along with a large extended family.

He was preceded in death by his mother, Inez Martinez Mata.

A Gathering of Family & Friends will begin at 1:00 P.M. Tuesday, April 2nd at Great Crossing Funeral & Cremation with a Time of Remembrance at 3:00 P.M.

Burial will be in Evergreen Memory Gardens with a committal service Wednesday, April 3rd at 12:00 P.M.
