Maxine Goggins Obituary

Maxine Duncan Goggins was born October 24, 1944 in Monticello, Kentucky and departed this life on October 4, 2021 at her home in Lexington, Kentucky. She was preceded in death by her parents Mamie Brown Duncan and George Duncan of Monticello, her sister Opal Duncan, her brothers Gene Duncan, Steve Duncan and Allen Duncan. She is survived by her husband John H. Goggins of Somerset, Kentucky, daughter Shawna Goggins Black and son-in law John Black of Lexington, daughter Clarissa Goggins Wright and son-in-law Delton Wright of Louisville, her only grandchild Maxley Oree Wright, her sisters Louise Peyton, Hazel Coffey, Carolyn Duncan, many nieces, nephews and a host of other loving relatives and friends. Maxine was born and raised in Monticello. She met John Goggins in Somerset by John’s sister-in-law in 1962. They got married on December 31, 1965, moved to Lexington in 1966 and through this union 2 daughters were born. She was a homemaker and stay at home mom for many years. She always loved to have children arounds especially her nieces and nephews. In 1983 Maxine started to work for Fayette County Public Schools as a Cafeteria worker and stayed in that field until 2008 where she became a Bus Monitor. She retired February of 2013 and spent the remaining years of her life enjoying time with family. Services will be private for family only. Masks are required.
