Pauline "Polly" (Cheatham) Whalen

Pauline “Polly” Cheatham Whalen, age 80, of Lexington, Kentucky, passed away Saturday, February 13, 2021 at Baptist Health Lexington.

Polly was born June 24, 1940 in Danville, Kentucky to the late Joe Lewis Cheatham and Sadie Katherine Walls.

Polly was a Daycare Director and owner of Whalen’s HobbyLand Day Care for 40 years.

She was a faithful member of the Heritage Baptist Church.

She is survived by her husband of over 62 years, Floyd Wayne Whalen; two sons, Wayne (Monica) Whalen of Winchester, KY and Todd Whalen of Lexington, KY; two sisters, Betty (Rex) Hensley of Addyston, OH and Mary (Hollis) Walter of Hurricane, WV; one brother, Bobby (Vicki) Cheatham of Lexington; six grandchildren, Carter Whalen, Bailey Whalen, Riley Whalen, Macey Whalen, Taylor Underwood, and Reagan Whalen; one great grandchild, River Whalen; one special niece, Holly Doss; and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held March 6, 2021 at Heritage Baptist Church at 12 PM with Ron Cook officiating. Burial will follow in the Evergreen Cemetery.

Visitation will be 9:00 AM until the service Saturday at the church. Due to Polly’s love for children, in lieu of flowers, donations are suggested to Saint Jude’s Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place Memphis, TN 38105 / donors@stjude.org or to the Heritage Baptist Church Children’s Ministry Program, 163 N. Ashland Avenue, Lexington KY 40502.

Pallbearers will be Tim “Fletch” Fletcher, Mike Arnett, Leonard Neal, Tim Dunn, Tim Cillo, and Mike Hiatt. Honorary pallbearers will be Chris “Tiny” Ready, David Eul and Larry McCormick.
