Zelda Jeannine Combs Kiser, age 93, widow of Crummell Kiser Jr., passed away July 25, 2023, at her home in Paris, Kentucky.
She was born March 17, 1930, in Pekin, Morgan County, Kentucky. She was the eighth child born to the late Jack and Lillie Ward Combs. She was preceded in death by her loving husband of sixty-six years, parents, siblings, and five nephews.
She is survived by eight nieces, Carol (Carl) Pike, Suzy Combs, Sarah Combs, Janet (Jim) Fox, Jeanie Lou (Tim) Sullivan, Sue (David) Ritchey, Barbara Hines, Terri (Mike) Smith; four nephews, William “Joe” (Andrea) Combs, H. Rex (Fabie) Combs, Tim Combs, Woody (Linda) Berry; “adopted” daughter and son-in-law, Cheryl and Gary Royalty; several great and great, great nieces and nephews, friends, and neighbors.
Jeannine attended school in Morgan County, first and second grades, at a one room school in Pekin and was an eighth-grade graduate at Ezel High School. She was one of seven senior high school graduates in the last high school class, in May 1948, at Center Hill High School in Bourbon County.
Jeannine made her profession of faith and became a member of First Baptist Church in Paris, Kentucky in August 1947.
Jeannine joined the Ewalt Homemakers club in February of 1960 and was an active member for over sixty years. She was Bourbon County's Homemaker president for two years in the late 1960's, a Board member fifteen years, and was an eight-county public information chairman for five years.
Jeannine spent her entire life as a farm wife, working many days side by side with her husband, caring for her parents, father-in-law, and two brothers-in-law. She also helped other family members when needed and worked on many fundraising drives.
When time permitted, Jeannine loved to travel and visit family and friends and see our great country. She and her husband loved their pets, the farm animals. They always enjoyed company, whether for a few minutes or a few days.
Jeannine was a proud Kentucky Colonel since August 1981.
The funeral service for Jeannine Combs Kiser will be at 1:30 p.m. on Saturday, July 29, 2023 at Hinton-Turner Funeral Home officiated by Pastor Kyle Sullivan with visitation starting at 12:30 p.m.. Interment will follow in Evergreen Cemetery with casket bearers being Gary Royalty, James Harris, Charles Fay, Tommy Berry, Woody Berry, and Forrest Jackson. Honorary bearers are Cheryl Royalty, Parley Harris, Pat VanHook, Barbara Puckett, Betty Berry, and Linda Berry.
